Tim blinked, wondering if the 1962 Corvette before him was just a dream. Then, without hesitating, he quickly swung open the door of his dream muscle car and almost leaped into the driver’s seat. This wasn’t just any Corvette but Tim’s favorite of the ‘Vettes, the same glimmering, sleek model Todd and Buzz drove in the classic 60’s series Route 66. 

Tim had dreamed of owning that classic car for soooo long. Hands clenched on the steering wheel, he just sat there, not breathing, taking everything in. The Vette smelled so familiar – like the many Chevy’s his family owned when he was a kid. It even had the same vintage Chevy AM radio where he remembered listening to 55.6 WHYN, the cool radio station that was all the rage when he was in high school. 

Tim fired up the legendary 327 ‘Vette engine. He could almost hear the Beach Boys singing their lush harmonies in the background. Goose bumps rushed all over his body. In an instant, Tim was transported back in time, seeing himself cruising the miracle mile with all the other muscle cars in his classic Corvette, vintage ‘Vette red with white coves, top off ... all eyes on him.

Then Reality Set In

“Whatdaya think, Tim?”

The voice snapped Tim back to the present. It was the owner impatiently trying to close the sale. His wife wanted the car out of the garage and it was time to fish or cut bait. 

But the problem was all logic flew out the window when Tim felt the 327 roar to life. He didn’t really know the right questions to ask. The seller seemed honest enough and told him the car had “matching engine numbers,” and claimed his asking price was the real value.

But Tim had no idea how to decode VIN numbers or about trim tag and model ID numbers that would also tell if the transmission, rear differential, as well as the interior and vehicle color were original. The buyer said that the car had been in a wreck, but had been “repaired.”

Nevertheless, Tim bought the car. 

In the years that followed, problems began to crop up. Tim found out the seller did not know much about the car. It did have matching engine numbers. But after the wreck, the owner, maybe by mistake, repaired the car with parts from other Corvettes from 1960 and 1961. His mechanic called it the “kluge car.” It took a fair amount of time, effort and education to return the car to as close to original as he could afford.

There is a lot to know and consider… misrepresentation and fraud is at an all time high.

1) First we start with an interview to find out all the details about your dream car. We will ask questions you may not have thought about as to price, quality trade offs, and highest and best use of the car (a driver, project car, show car, etc.). Based on the interview, we will determine if we can find exactly the car you are looking for.

2) Next we give you an estimated time frame for finding and delivering your car. At that point we require a refundable deposit. (See Fee Schedule on the menu bar for details.)

If you choose, we can have your car expertly appraised and or inspected. These fees are at your expense, but are minimal in comparison to the value. We work with a variety of extremely reputable appraisers and inspectors.

When you are satisfied, we help you make payment arrangements. Your dream car is delivered to you.

Many of our clients live outside the United States. We handle shipping details and will outline what is needed to clear Customs.
